About Me
Hello there,
I'm Chris Carnay, a cybersecurity professional based in Canada with over a decade of experience in IT and security. I started in desktop support, moved through IT service desk and administration, and eventually found my way into cybersecurity. Today, my work focuses on vulnerability management, cloud security, incident response, and helping organizations improve their security.
What I enjoy most about cybersecurity is figuring out how things work, recognizing patterns, and solving problems that don't always have straightforward answers. Outside of work, I spend time building, testing, and sometimes breaking things :) in my homelab to explore new ideas and sharpen my skills.
I created this website to document my journey, share what I learn through hands-on projects and security research, and make cybersecurity and online privacy easier to understand, especially for those without a technical background.
When I'm not behind a computer, you'll find me spending time with my wife, our daughter, and our dog, enjoying a good cup of coffee, playing basketball, or getting outdoors.
Whether you're here for technical projects or simple tips to stay safe online, I hope you find something useful that you can take away and apply.

Managed and supported hybrid cloud infrastructure across Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure, Google Workspace, VMware, Intune, and Fortinet technologies. I responded to security alerts in Azure Sentinel and Microsoft 365 Defender, investigated phishing and other malicious activity, supported vulnerability remediation, managed more than 100 virtual machines, enrolled devices into Intune, and developed scripts to improve operational efficiency.
Berkley Canada Insurance
Supported users and business systems while contributing to access controls, SOX compliance, disaster recovery, onboarding and offboarding processes, and technical documentation. I also coordinated infrastructure and collaboration projects including the transition from Avaya to Cisco VoIP, wireless access point deployments, and the implementation and user training of Microsoft 365 and Teams.
CompuCom
Provided Level 2 technical support to more than 300 users across Toronto, troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers, and network issues. I supported a Windows 10 refresh project, maintained asset inventory, contributed to disaster recovery activities, and helped ensure reliable day-to-day endpoint operations.
